Privacy Policy
Effective August 21, 2026
The short version: we collect what the tool needs to score schools for you, we use it only for that, and we don't sell it or run ad trackers. The longer version follows.
What we collect
Survey answers. Your preferences, intended major, budget range, and — depending on the survey — academics like GPA and test scores. Some questions touch sensitive attributes (racial/ethnic background, religious preference, political leaning, household income range, ZIP code). Each exists only to compute the matching feature it belongs to, the sensitive ones are optional (“prefer not to say” still gets a full score), and none of it is ever used for anything beyond your results.
Your lists and results. The schools you add, band placements, notes, and computed scores — stored so your workspace is there when you come back.
Account email. If you sign in, we store your email address to attach your reports, lists, and purchases to your account and to send sign-in links and receipts.
Payment records. Purchases are processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation of what was bought and the email on the payment — never your card number.
We run no advertising trackers and no third-party analytics. Cookies are used only to keep you signed in, and your browser's local storage holds interface preferences (like a dismissed tip) and a draft of your survey answers.
Who touches the data
Three service providers process data on our behalf, each for one job: Supabase (database, authentication, and sign-in emails), Stripe (payments), and Resend (transactional email like receipts). The site is hosted on Vercel, which processes standard request logs (IP address, pages requested) as any web host does.
That's the list. We do not sell personal information, share it with advertisers or data brokers, or use your survey answers to train AI models. The AI-generated school attributes described on the About the data page are built from public information about schools — never from user data.
We would disclose data if legally compelled to, and account data would transfer with the business if CampusMatch were ever acquired — under this policy's protections.
Retention, deletion & your rights
Reports and lists are kept so long as you keep them — you can delete any report or list yourself from your reports page, and deletion is immediate and permanent. To delete your entire account and everything attached to it, email support@trycampusmatch.com from the account's address and we'll do it promptly. Payment records are retained as required for tax and accounting.
You can also ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, or to correct it. One email, no forms. California residents: these are the access, deletion, and correction rights the CCPA describes, and we honor them for everyone — we also do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined there, so there's nothing to opt out of.
CampusMatch is for ages 13 and up; we don't knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the site, email us and we'll delete the data.
Changes & contact
If our practices change, this page and its effective date change with them — we won't quietly start doing something this policy says we don't.
Questions about privacy: hello@trycampusmatch.com. The terms that govern use of the site are in the Terms of Service.
